Deicide

Deicide - death metal blog
When we talk about Deicide we don’t talk about just a band from Florida, but about one of the first and most authoritative Death Metal Bands.

There is no denying the fact that Deicide is one of the founding fathers of the brutal sound. It is well known that the boys from Amon, the first name the band adopted, always kept their fans on the same rhythm and had offered that strong pleasure with every song they released.

In 1987 a new band was borned just to make history under the name of: “Amon”. After two demos, in 1989, Amon became Deicide when Roadrunner Records, based on a sure and close succes, proposed them to sign a contract. In 1990, Deicide’s self-titled debut was released in collaboration with Tampa’s Morrisound Studio. It was as Roadrunner predicted: Deicide reached succes but also exceeded their expectations.

In 1992, the album “Legion” made history as an instant succes. This album was the piece from the puzzle that propeled Deicide in the forefront of American Death Metal scene.

The members were filed with fame and succes, even if once with the name (Deicide= Killing gods), appeared the controversy and the negative opinions of some people. Although they received threats that they will burn in hell for eternity their fans motivated them to continue they astonishing work of creating raw, pure and brutal Death Metal songs and incredible concerts. Also Glen Benton presents himself as the incarnation of pure evil.

More albums were released with the help of Roadrunner Records until 2001, when the “In Torment In Hell” was the album that put point to the collaboration. In November 2002 Deicide signed a contract with Earache Records and hoped this huge change will lead to good results. The results arrived faster than the band expected and in 2004 ‘Scars of the Crucifix‘ was released and brought Deicide a new meaning of the word ‘succes’.

In the same year the Hoffmans brothers left the band and put Glen in the delicate situation of bringing substitutes to help him on tour. In this new form (Glen Benton, Jack Owen, Ralph Santolla and Steve Asheim) Deicide continued releasing new albums.

Roadrunner and Earache Records knew how to squeez the band’s potential! Deicide sold a number of 500,000 albums just in the U.S.A, managing to be one of the best-selling death metal bands.

And this is the story of Deicide, one of the founding fathers of Death Metal. A story full of controversy, concerts, albums and pure fucking Brutal Death Metal.
